Is QA1 front suspension for 1968-1970 B Body any good? - 01/29/24 05:53 PM

I was planning on buying a QA1 front k member suspension kit for my 1968 Charger. Anybody here have any experience with this rack and pinion style front suspension kit? I usually just upgrade the suspension to bigger torsion bars, big sway bars and aftermarket steering box and other stuff. I am wanting to try something different this time around and see if the handling will be better.

Aren't those tubular K member kits mainly design for drag race cars for weight reduction? work scope twocents

They sell a K member suspension for the street that has double adjustable coil overs.

There are many options for good handling that are less expensive using the factory design. The QA 1 bumpster correction takes about 2 1/2" of shim. So the tie rod is hanging out pretty far. The turning radius is reduced. Front suspension travel is less. I've installed them. They do bolt up nice.

This is what I'd do. Firm Feel upper arms, Koni shocks, big torsion bars, big anti-sway bar, big brakes, 17x8 rim with good tires. I'm pretty sure this will cost less and work better than the kit you're asking about.

If you want better handling, contact Firm Feel Inc.

I looked at the QA setup then checked out RMS. After taking to Bill I decided on the RMS street front suspension for my 64 Dart. Cost less than the QA and is better for the street. I also plan to order the RMS rear street suspension kit.

RMS is over the top IMO. Not only does their stuff work, The instruction's are top notch, It bolts up the way a kit should. NO BS, EXCUSES etc. And if you should have a question Mr. Reilly himself answers it ,not some overpaid flunky that drives a Prius twocents beer

over 30 years and everybody has their own preferences for handling on mopar suspension. From stock to modern, most people needs for a car to handle better than an F1 race car yet only to drive for 15 minute to the local cruise spot to park for 6 hours is a wasted endeavor. I can see going for lighter suspension for drag racing, but when the lower control arms that hold the frontend weight of the vehicle look like the wishbone from a turkey, then I won't say it's good for driving on streets.

OP needs to advise his real budget number and what he wants from the car with the upgrade.
Sticking anyone's aftermarket front suspension system on the car without the rest of the required parts is not going to work very well.
tires wheels shocks rear springs, unibody reinforcements etc

i finally installed frame connectors on my 69 charger last year, just using square 2" tube because i didn't want to cut the floor pan.
what a difference that made !
i also built a 1 3/4" square tube framework reinforcing the bottom of the core support. still using the factory 15/16" sway bar.
this year i plan on installing torque boxes.

Putting an "upgraded" suspension on a flexible chassis is less than optimum.

I plan on installing frame connectors, a roll cage and stiffening the front end on the 64 Dart. This will be a daily driver when done. That’s the reasoning behind putting a 5.7 Gen III in it. Already have over 70,000 miles on my 55 Dodge pickup with the 5.7 in it. If ya can’t drive it not worth having.
