1977 Cordoba Chronometer - 10/27/23 12:50 AM

What is the easiest way to remove the Chronometer(clock) on a 1977 Cordoba? Mine stopped working and I would like to replace it. Does it get removed from under the dash? The factory service manual isn't real clear on this. Thanks Tony.

Where is it located? Above the glove box area? Have a pic? If so, remove the plastic glove box liner and take a look.

Yes it's just above the glove box and to the left. Thanks.

Weren't most of the 76 up cars, designed so that all the dash components came out "the front' ??? . . . should be able to take the trim piece off that is around the clock, then have access to the two screws (??) that hold it onto the dash and pull it out, disconnect the electrical connector and away you go . . .

that's the way it works. depending on the vehicle, the face piece needing removed could range from the whole dash face to just a small panel.
not really that hard to do.

Does the wood grain trim piece just pull off? I would hate to break it by doing it wrong,

I'd pull the glove box and look at it from behind.

perhaps these views may help. I don't see any trim studs protuding through backside.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'll try removing the glove compartment first and check access from there. The service manual does show the mounting screws going in from the rear.

It's been a WHILE since I've had cordobas. I've had all that apart when I did. I have a 78 fury now that has the same dash and id like to add the clock as my cordobas had.
IF I REMEMBER RIGHT I think I took a screwdriver in that metal trim piece and it popped out easily, and the clock attached with 2-3 , typical "dash screws" from the front behind that metal trim.
