1974 Charger AC Conversion

I have factory air in my 74 Charger Rallye. Original r12 system and now converting to 134a. My compressor blew a seal a few years ago and now it's time to fix.

Does anyone have experience with the below kit from Original Air?

kind of looks like an e-bag universal kit, with just a couple of brackets [easily fabricated] and bolts [easily sourced at a good hardware store] included.

RV2 Compressor can be serviced and all the system converted to R134.

I converted my 72 400 A/C car to their Stage 2 kit. Kit is very nice but after sales from Classic has turned to dust!!!! I heard ownership changed about 2 years ago (they were great before) and whenever I've emailed they go unanswered. I did call recently to but a fitting and that line is monitored but the woman was lacking of personality and sounded like she couldn't care less about doing her job. I received the part and all was well, then about two weeks later got an email from the same woman asking me what I needed?????? Guess she finally got to old emails.

I would convert to a newer134 compressor. it will work with the old one but 134 works a higher pressures that the R12 so the newer style would work better. Save on weight and space also.

Here is an old article from a Mopar mag where the conversion is explained with full detail, before some parts were available. I took pics of the article, althought I think missed one page.

Nowdays 4seasons offers correct replacements for dryer and expansion valve already set for R134 (got them), so don’t need to tune up or rebuild the existant ones. They already come with the correct green seals.

For better performance also aluminum condensers are available with the CORRECT look to replace the factory iron one. (i got it too)

About the temp sensor cut off switch, you can get it build like the A body setup. A bodies compressors didn’t get the ECP valve, but a cycling cut off switch temp sensor inserted into the evaporator. For more info about this, read the master tech manual:
