E body wiper motor alternatives ? - 05/11/23 01:52 PM

THIS IS NOT A RESTORATION OR EVEN CLOSE. I just need wipers that work

I have a two speed wiper switch in the car and no motor at all, but I do have most of the linkages and arms. This car has a blower on it and so I do not want a two speed stock style motor protruding out into the engine bay and I also am not going to spend $300, 400 500 on a three speed motor.
What have you guys done for reasonable substitutes from other vehicles?

If you are going to go with the 3 speed or variable speed wiper motor, you need a different switch. You can use the 67-69 a body switch, ending in 378, as a cheaper option or the e body switch. The stalk is a little shorter I am told for the knob but still works fine. As far as the wiper motor, I think any from the 70-76 (?) years will work but you need probably will need to reclock it for park position. More knowledgeable members can get you a definitive answer on that.

You will also need 2 parts from an e body 3 speed/ variable motor car. You need the small “arm” that attached to wiper motor and you need the one long arm of the linkage. You can get by with what you have for the long arm but you will need to weld the original pivot point closed and it needs to get moved slightly. There is a post in my thread I started about what is needed from changing 2 speed to 3 speed. The pivot can be bought on eBay and has instructions on what to do.

I am switching mine over too but car is in shop. I have an e body wiper motor I need to test and restore.
