anyone on long island that does diff rebuilding - 02/28/23 10:57 PM

I'm looking to convert my open diff 2.76 - 489 case to a Dr.Diff unit with 3.55 gears, any shops on the island anyone hear about that will do a good job, I'm not interested in learning a new skillset of crush washers and gear lash. Thanks

I'm on Long Island. I had a set of gears set up in my 489 case about 15 years ago. I didn't know anyone, so I asked the guys at S&K Speed. They recommended a shop out east and they did a great job. I don't remember who they were, but I would ask one of the shops if they could steer you in the right direction.

I will call S&K, I used to be regular at their Lynbrook site, long time ago, now they only have the lindenhurst site.
Thanks

My good buddy had his 8-3/4 rear gears installed and setup by a guy from Dial Transmission in Bellmore/Wantagh. He seemed to have done a good job as it is quiet, smooth, and completed a track day with a bunch of mid-high 11 sec runs. 1.60s 60 ft. 70 Charger 500 @ about 3800-3900 lbs. that’s ok in my book.
Not sure of his name there.

I’m also in for a recommendation. I have a 742 open diff w/2.94 ratio. Want to upgrade to 3.23 surefrip

The Sunrise Hwy location was in RVC, not Lynbrook.
