Hello -

Digging through my storage finding more parts -
came across this Mallory Distributor from my 70 cuda box -


Can anyone ID this to confirm what it goes to?

could not find this exact one on any charts online -


raised casting on main body is 577
Top cam plate # 25608
Bottom plate # 25979 B - RH
Mallory Tag # YL - 579 - HP

It does have spring mechanism set up below you can see and I can turn with a screw driver -

google search is showing for sale ad's - 273 - 318 - 340
cannot find a chart ?

if this was a dual point - in the parts bag is only 1 point -
person I bought car from had this in a box apart ???
dont know why he would ?

should I look for a second point before I attempt to sell this?

part # 25042 on the point

YL-579-HP Is a small block. Just google the number.

You can run a 8 lobe cam dual point distributor on 1 set of points. adjust the dwell to ~ 30°
if i am not mistaken you can also convert it to electronic with a unilite kit but don't quote me on that wink

This is an 8 lobe - yes

Question -
got me thinking about the dual point thing - what is the advantage from single point?
quicker firing? less stress on the single point?
