Needing to have one built and I’m wondering what it’s costing to have one built
These days. I’m located in houston if that matters

I had an aluminum one made from driveshaft specialties in Texas.I have no complaints with it.
Also check out Mark Williams site about drive shaft critical speed.

I had a long one shortened, end welded back in & balanced last year. Local shop did it for under $100.00

Basic street stuff around here ran about $175 a couple years ago.
I use a guy about 50 miles from me who does really nice work, checks everything.
God only knows what $hipping would be.
There are always ads in Natl Dragster for the race stuff, but I don't get ND any more.

Used a local shop to build me a new one after the big block swap. Built to spec with everything new (slip yoke included) was $350.

any idea what speed it was balanced at ?
a buddy had one done locally from a truck place, and always had a vibration problem with it. i can't remember what rpm it was balanced at, but it was pretty low.
the shaft was in a 55 chevy with 4.10's and a 700R4 od, and it vibrated pretty good at certain speeds. we checked runout, and it was right at the limit [in my opinion] at around .018 or so.
i tried to get him to have it high speed balanced, but someone wanted the car and threw good money at him before he had a chance to try that.

I had one made in April of 2022 to these specs:
Strange Engineering 1350 Driveshaft Assembly
Options: Application: 3" Street/Strip (U1699) , Transmission: 727 Automatic 29 Spline , Add Forged Steel 1350 Pinion Yoke

It costed me $424 - purchased through Dr. Diff. Easy Transaction. Would recommend.
