Roots sc on my 383 - 11/27/22 02:28 AM

I have a 1970 sweptline that I’ve put a 383 in. I want to put an old school roots style blower on. I have a single blow thru Holley carb so I was thinking about a 177 blower. I can’t for the life of me find the parts to make this work. Can anyone help with this? Or can it be done?

On a roots style supercharger you would want to use a draw-thru (normal) carburetor not a blow-through.

pretty sure the blower you're talking about is one of those Wieand's made for small chevy's (correct me if i'm wrong). i thought the dick landy people had made a manifold to fit b engines by using an offenhauser dual quad intake. do some research because I know somebody has done this, but a manifold has to be made.

I'm no expert on this, but think that blower might be a little small for a 383. Since you have a blow through carburetor, maybe consider a centrifugal supercharger from SD Concepts? They have parts in stock to bolt up to your 383

DLI made a kit probably 20 or 25 years ago for b blocks. I met a guy with a 73 4 speed charger at carlisle with the set up, he loved it.

Many of the companies would take the low profile single plane Offenhauser dual quad manifolds and modify them for a roots blower- for more than dodge and Plymouth. The offy manifolds are plentiful used but the cost to convert is really high.
