the date points to 1969 model year - NO partial VIN = van/truck

Also, the 2540 is the “ten thousand day” date code i think
And the 0706 should be the unit number of the day “i think”

Part number is 2829317 L is late I believe. Hole in bell area is for timing on a van/truck/motor home.

None of my sources show a 2829xxx, the numbers jump from 2801xxx to 2892xxx. Build date is early '69...timing hole is SB truck or van.

2829317 first appeared as a production trans for the compact truck (A100/108) in 1967.
It also appears as a production unit under the same p/n for 1968

The date code means one thing and only one thing - when the unit was made, not what model year it fits.

Looking at 2540 date code that is July 11, 1968. Tight but it could have been installed in a 1968 vehicle.

Could be a service unit for a warranty replacement back then.

Thanks for the great help gents - is it worth picking up for $100 ? Comes with output yoke as well. It is for sale locally.

I would think its nothing more than a core at this point.

Thanks

Assuming it is in good shape inside, all you need is a long output shaft and extension to use it in a car application.

As for value, depends on your locality.

Picked it up today - this one must be a Frankenstein, put is side by side my other 727 that supposedly came out of an Ebody car and they are almost identical. One extra boss on the side of the known car unit.

Legnth, spine count and diameter of input - pump - and output are exactly the same...was a good buy for me - of course seller thought it was good but the fluid is black and doesn't smell too good. It was behind some twin turbo small sized diesel in a 41 1 ton dodge truck. Hope the guts aren't too bad.

Thanks again all.

Looking at your picture, the extension housing gasket looks a bit hokey.

Someone best you to it and made it a pass car unit.
