727 input shaft help - 06/11/22 04:54 PM

Can anyone identify this input shaft it is a 24 spline but my question is the shaft is solid it has no feed holes on the hub end also would a specific stator support be required I was told it came out of a motorhome 727.It is not a lockup shaft as well

Pic is too small and blurry. Count the splines, if 19 it's '66-earlier, if 24 it's '67-later.

If no passage between the two seal grooves - then >

That input was released in preparation for the release of lock up. It requires a matching rear clutch piston support which has a metal seal ring on it that engages the matching reaction shaft support.
Rear clutch apply is achieved between the rear input shaft seal ring and the metal ring on the piston support.

No but I’ll look up the exact year we made that change and post a pic of each part.
Most parts houses can get you what you need knowing what year. At least the one side I have dealt with.

Parts changed for 1978 model year.

See pics.

The reaction shaft support you need will have provisions for three ball plugs on the rotor side but only have two installed. You will also notice it has the lead in chamfer like some of the earlier supports, this is where the seal rides that’s in the piston support. The rear input shaft seal and this piston support seal apply rear clutch.

The rear clutch piston retainer has a metal seal in it.
