Best dimple method

Test fit my engine and have interference between the TTI headers and steering pump.
Seems like I need to put a rounded ding in the header.
What's a good method to not remove the coating on the header?

I use a deep well socket with an extension as a handle. Pick the best size socket for the size of dent needed and slap with a hammer accordingly. Smooth and round with no sharp corners when whacked just right.

Shorten the head of the bolt or maybe use a button head SCPS (allen). Any chance the motor is leaning that direction?
We have dinged several when needed and fogged over the area with VHT flat aluminum. Barely noticeable beer

Good question on the leaning, quite possible.
I didn't install the bolts in the brackets, engine was just sitting down on mounts, supported by lift.

Which brings up my next question. How much will engine shift around with the rubber biscuit motor mounts?
Seems like there should at least 1/4" or more?
I also only have 1/4 for alternator, but that's an easier fix.

My buddy used a 1/2 ,inch extension for the profile and then carefully heated the tube red hot and made his clearance. When it cooled off it looked like it was coated that way. No discoloration, nothing. Still shiny.

That is a hard to answer question as it depends on the mounts and rubber used as well as gearing, traction and a few other variables. The good news is the motor torques to the right under hard accel going forward, and of course the opposite in reverse so unless you plan on doing burnouts in reverse that's in your favor.
I have known a few that have drilled through the mounts and used flat head hard ware to limit the movement while retaining the isolation of the rubber. Don't know if Urethane mounts are available but the are usually stiffer and interlocked beer

Can you shim under the mounts to raise the engine?

Hadn't thought of that? Where would the shim go, between mount that bolts to block and block?
Maybe add 1/4" of washers in each spot?

I've used a piece of belt leather and a ball peen hammer. I've also used an oxy/acetylene torch and a hammer. Then touched up the areas with VHT Hi-temp paint.

I overheated a set of TTI's and repainted the entire exhaust matt black using VHT Hi-temp paint. It's still looking good 6 years later.
