Usually boils down to the market demand. FWIW, I have an '05 Dakota and I believe I have a Group 65 battery in it. My 2004 diesel dually takes 2 of them.

Odyssey makes one, it’s bad to the bone. Sat all winter without a trickle charge and it was lightning. 440 spins over like a hurricane with stock starter. Was about 290 shipped to my door. I can go look at the number if you like. Used Autozone for easy warranty if needed.

It was in my email, 34 is some crossover group I remember that seemed to be an agm thing. Mine bolted right in stock 69 b body.

The best deal I saw recently was Sam's Club had 24 and 27 AMG that had freash manufacture dates at the cheapest prices. Walk in and out the door in hand.

A lot of places have cut out group 24 and stock group 34 as it is same size length and width but is 1 inch shorter than a 24 but comes with a 1 inch spacer to make same hight as a group 24.
Saves them cost of sticking 24 and 34 and 24 is kinda obsolete.
This may be what you are encountering.
Just putting it out there that it is a new trend.
As out cars,get older even common consumables like starters are crossed over to mini starters. So a one size fits all kiinda deal on many parts sadly.
