Should this sit flat? Motor mount

Should this sit flat? Motor mount - 03/01/22 03:08 AM

I’m fitting this stock biscuit motor mount to a Holley 3G bracket.
The pressed fit splines and the oversized dimple aren’t allowing the mount to sit flat on the bracket?
Is this an issue, how does it compare to a stock set-up?

Thx

I would work it until it fits correctly. It will loosen up if you assemble it like that twocents

Either ground away the mount, or BETTER YET tell Holley they need to improve their bracket

Yep. I would enlarge the holes the stud and the dimple fit into so they actually fit correctly.

Taper the holes in the bracket. No need to enlarge the full depth of the holes.

Is the bracket the problem or that rubber mount?

The holes in the bracket are just large enough for the 1/2” stud.
The dimple and the splines on the mount stud are larger than 1/2”

So how large are the holes in a factory bracket?
Trying to determine whether I should drill the bracket or grind the mount.

Thx

Nearly all new mounts are garbage, in both fit and material. We tried to fit new mounts on stock motor brackets and stock k-member for a 440 in a '70 Charger. Nothing would fit properly. Went back to some older used mounts and everything fit.

Countersink the holes in the bracket enough for the mount to sit flush.

I'm sure the dies they use are at least ten times over their original cycle rate, so the dimple is a large mound instead of a small, crisp dimple.
