What for color was the original air filter for part 2863349? Were they black or orange?

Thanks, BTW, did the element have a mesh screen or the screen with holes in it? Also did it change color and style in the later years but carry the same part number? The reason I ask is because I found a P2863349 filter online and I was told it was black.

original had perforated metal (holes). all originals were orange. somewhere in the late '90's fram re-poped some in black. black isn't original but will work if not building a show car.

2863349 is the 13" diameter round air filter used in many of the single 4bbl air cleaners of the musclecar era

yes, the ~1968-'70 originals were orange with round holes in the screen - FRAM made reproductions a few years ago under CA305V in their VINTAGE series

Do you have any idea when they stopped using the orange filter in the single 4 bbl air cleaners? Didn`t they change to black in later years?
