1968 Dodge Coronet R/T convertible on BaT right now, column shift 727 with a console. Never seen a console without a shifter before, push button yes but not column?

I would agree - that has to be rare. First time his girlfriend sits on it it breaks though. Waste of money!

I'd worry about doing 110 with the door open and no hands on the steering wheel...

Some times ya have to get out of the ‘notion’ before ya can get out of the car. Catch-all type of thing.

Probably vomiting. Sometimes it just comes up without warning.

close but not quite - for the 1966 model year, the Charger Coronet 500 & Satellite (2-door hardtops & convertibles) all had bucket seats & a console STANDARD
if the base V8 with its column-shift 3-speed manual was NOT upgraded, then the cars received the console shown above (1966 ONLY) rare because it was the least desirable drivetrain (less than 2,500 built, total)

& there might have been a similar deal with a '66 c-body or two shruggy

If it is a factory installed console then the floor mounting tabs will be factory too.......................for some reason that console looks to be leaning to the right, that couldn't or shouldn't be a factory error IMO. Don't forget someone "added" a tail stripe onto a "stripe delete" Monroney/window sticker label.......wonder what else was added? And wouldn't the under hood sound deadening and silenced dual snorkel be listed on the window sticker too on an R/T?

What's the fender tag code for a console in '68? And why no corner bend crease in the upper left of a St. Louis built car? scope

Was that upper left hand crease something that started in '68 in St. Louis? My '67 GTX is a St. Louis car and it has no crease anywhere. Bottom tag.

Re: This has to be rare? - 11/26/21 08:00 PM

the delete plate center console was a 1966 item ONLY - it was NOT an available OPTION for any 1968 vehicle

the fender tag and window sticker are NOT AUTHENTIC spank

a/5 = 485 = C.A.R. (center arm rest) aka "buddy seat"
VS.
a/6 = 486 = console

Vin tag pics

Someone asked for body stampings (SO#) and motor and trans stampings (VIN).

Thing is… on a 68 you need the buildsheet to tie those two things together

What with this join line on both sides of the Trans tunnel ?

Is this where they spliced replacement floor pans in ?

Yep, he is getting beat up a bit. Was thinking it has a broken speedo cable hanging that speedo at 110, per your picture above there is NO cable going in that trans, something that I would had remedied and fixed if it were mine prior to selling with the rest of it in the condition it is in . My guess this car may end up RNM (reserve not met), we will see. People have to take this car for what it is with info given, missing build sheet, ect as I don't think it was built to be a trailer queen but something that can be driven and shown local , C&C , ect. In other words a bit different league than this one. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-dodge-charger-12/ only 90 minutes left as of this posting.

Rubber donut around the headlight dimmer switch, not an original item. Anybody need one?

Many years ago I was looking over a car in someone collection and one of the cars was a 68 coronet. I think its the same car I saw back then. I didn't get photo of the fender tag but got a pic of the interior.

Honest question--I have always assumed that the 67 and earlier consoles got the silver, and 68 and later consoles got woodgrain.

Is this not correct?

Same for A-body consoles.
