Gen 1 Viper Engine? - 11/05/21 09:00 PM

Did the Gen1 vipers have the vin stamped in the motor or did they just have a ID#.

This never made it past the motor assembly line so I wonder what the motor #id means or is that all they got?

What Im asking is does anyone know if this motor was stamped with a VIN as I can not find one, the paperwork ID# is stamped in the block.

Thanks.

I read that paperwork to mean this engine was never installed, at least not by the factory. looks like a crate/replacement/warranty motor to me

Yes a complete crate motor with a PN but I cant find anything on the PN itself.

And I could not find any blank pad for like a vin but rather the ID number on the paperwork is the number stamped on the block. Not sure if thats where the cars vin would of been or if that number carried over.

ah ok, can't help on the question other than to say a VIN stamp was a requirement by law/regulation, not sure when that went into effect, late 60's I think.

All Vipers had the VIN stamped in the trans and engine.
When I worked at Chrysler my department authorized all VIper engine and trans replacements and repairs.

Some owners wanted their original engine or transmission repaired instead of a new one so we accommodated them through a repair service.
Arrow Racing did the engine repairs. I forgot who did the trans repairs.
