In the '80s I used Krylon semi-gloss on a few - looked legit and it held up well.
Had to mask the wheels back then...

I will probably get trashed for this but I used semi-gloss rustoleum. Not the spray can though.

SEM has a Trim Black that has more gloss then their original Trim Black. It's called Trim Black Ultra.(49143) That might be a good choice too. The original Trim Black(39143) is pretty flat. The "Ultra" is a semi-gloss.
