Is anyone running this size on the rear of their car ? Be interested to see pics ? Also what backspacing would be needed ? I have a 70 Charger with 4” backspacing on the rear, thanks

I've run that size on a '64 Savoy wagon, and the previous owner of my '69 Road Runner did as well.
Both used 8" wheels with the stock 4.25-4.50 BS, no rubbing.
That tire is about 30" tall but not all that wide - I've run 295/50s on a RR before with the same size & BS wheel with no issues.

Thanks

My wheels are 15 x 7 by the way but the backspacing only 4”

So you think they should clear on my Charger ?

Thanks

Sidewall bulge will be different than what I know about, but likely not much.
Look up the section width, see what rim width it was measured at, and compare to what you have now.
A straightedge and measuring tape might be handy; straightedge against brake drum, measure to springs & inner wheelhouse.

I run those on my 68 Satellite . I use a 8"rim with 4 1/2"BS . 7"rim will be fine , yes a little more bulge . Good size tyre without looking oversize . Great with my 4.10s

That's what I have on the back of my Cuda at the moment. 15x8 wheels but the offset is not optimal. Tight to fender lip, but plenty of room on the inside. 255/60 on the front with 7" wide wheels.

I was just thinking of having 255's put on some 15x7 rims for my 1972 Charger. Thanks for posting pics everyone, all your cars look sweet with that size of rubber.

I do like the 70 profile on the rear , surprised it’s not more popular really with most people going for 50 or 60 profile

Hi Moparts , update , I did get my new rear tires in from cooper in the 255-70-15 size , and they are perfect compared to the 275-60-15s i'm replacing . drive The next question is cooper changed the Font of the white letters VS the old tires . and the new tire letters look bigger and slightly slanted . shruggy Here we Go , New White letters out , or Black Side Walls out using American Racing Torque Thrusts Rims mounted on a dark green 1969 Coronet with black vinyl top ?

Black walls out would be my choice as I'm not a fan of white letter tires on aftermarket wheels. However, I do prefer white letter tires on factory rally wheels.

I'm running 295/50/15 on a 15x10 with 5" backspace with no problems. I just went with the dilemma of whites in or out. I ended up with out.

Do you happen to know what the backspace dimensions were on those 15 x 7s?

Thanks. I'm considering that size tire with a Torque Thrust 15 x 7 on my 67 Belvedere but the backspace is limited to 3 3/4 in that wheel width which may prove problematic.

Any more pics ?

Considering putting this size on my 69 Coronet on 15 x 7’s

Any idea if it will fit or what backspacing I will need ?

Thanks
