Water pump housing - 04/06/21 03:17 PM

Have heard of some new aluminum big block water pump housings with porosity problems. Can someone recommend a good brand?

I've had the 440Source housing and pump since 2014(?). Zero issues.

Buy the Mopar. (You don't want to hear the very long story.)

It's only available second hand now, in their infinte wisdom MP killed it off/discontinued it.

The good side of that is:
now nobody can complain they are too expensive as they did for decades wink

They had a high price not only because of profit but because they were cast and machined in California.

Oh well, that ship has sailed.

It looks like the choices are: 440 source, Proform, CVR, Speedmaster, and who ever makes the one for Summit. Some supposedly cast with restrictive water ports.

Should have pulled the trigger on a Mopar Performance housing long ago. Damn.

i have heard of the restrictive passageways almost from the beginning of the reproduction housings, but i have never seen a comparison side by side.
i have an unbranded housing here, and it seems to have bigger passages than a couple of iron housings i have to compare it to.
anyone have a restrictive housing to show the problem ?
TIA as always ! bow
