Convertible Top Pump Fluid type - 03/23/21 03:55 PM
In my service manual (67 Coronet) it says the fluid to be used in the convertible top pump is auto trans fluid AQ-ATF Suffix "A". I called the local parts store and they said that Valvoline Max Life tranny fluid would be the same. Is that correct? What do you folks use?

I used Type F fluid in my '68. Just got some cheap Walmart fluid.

I used Dextron II in mine years ago. Virtually any older straight normal fluid will be ok. It is just a basic hydraulic fluid in that application.
Beware of any fluid that advertises high mileage. Those oils usually have additives that will cause the seals to swell and can cause problems when there weren't any in the first place.
