Gap at top of fan shroud

I bought and installed a fan shroud for my 69 Dart. It is the factory type shroud, on an aftermarket aluminum radiator. There is a gap that is just over 1" at the top between the shroud and the tank. Any Ideas on how to fill the gap?? Thanks in advace!!

You might try a rubber seal intended for a pinchweld, that has a flap.
Look at the restorationspecialties.com catalog, should be something there.

Following this, my aluminum fan shroud on my 68 has a similar gap. I was going to try using a thick rubber flap attached using sticky tape.

I like the idea of something pushing onto the shroud. I'll report back what I find.

I was thinking something like this. Push it onto the shroud, and it'll rest against the radiator.

That should also work.

I used weatherstrip foam. It can be found in different thickness / widths. Also has an adhesive side which I attached to the radiator so the shroud's edge presses into it. It's not noticeable, easy to replace and closed the gap nicely.

I used a piece of pipe insulation, it doesn't look too terrible/awful/horrible/horrendous/ugly/disgusting/gross. It does look a little non-factory though...

Personally I would first try to determine how much flow you have now with the gap and then after your mod whatever you might end up with. Putting a 1" non-tapered lip on the edge might do more harm to the venturi effect of the shroud than help? The corners of the shroud are somewhat not tapered already. Was just thinking of how any lip that was not tapered on say a carburetor venturi would hurt flow so would that also hurt on a fan shroud?? You could tape short pieces of (kite) string around the top part of the shroud before and after the mod like sometimes done in wind tunnels to check flow? Just maybe the morning coffee talking Looks good btw And is that F8 Green

Could always buy a larger diameter fan and cut it to size if the next size up is too large?

Yes, F8! I almost painted it orange. I am glad I didn't.

I used the closed cell insulation "noodles" made to slip over 1/2 copper water pipes. The wall of these tubes is about 3/8" thick. Use a razor blade to quarter it end to end , and attach it to the shroud with 3M weather strip adhesive. It comes with a peel and stick surface to which will hold it in place while you fit& mock up the pieces. Cheap and worked well on the gap with a factory shroud to Champion radiator.
