oversize replacement door pins - 02/23/21 03:46 PM

doing a set of 68 b body door hinges and as usual the lower hinge holes are worn. i do not have time to order the oversize ones from RestoRick so trying to find a oversize pin and re-drill. Stock are .342" found jeep ones that were around .360" but they are a tiny bit too short.
anybody have a source for a stock pin from another application i can order?

If I remember right Autozone had a generic set of hinge bushings for sale in the help section. Not sure if those might work for you or not.

I got a set from Autozone Dorman brand! I don't remember that part number though.

How long do they need to be.

stock lower pin is .340" x 3.410" so need a .360-ish x 3.410+

has anyone had any luck bushing the lower pin and it holding up? would prefer oversized metal on metal if possible.

Bushing the pins is done all the time on GM stuff.
May save you some grief if your pins are good, but they often are worn themselves.

Lower hinge is the solid cast one, right. I think I have a decent set of used ones that could make it to BC in a few days !!

i found over sized pins and got them put back together. just like new now. thanks for the replies guys!

i used Dorman 38386 kits which are for 84-96 dodge van and truck. Pins are .372" the most worn part of the hinge was approx .360" quick job once you have the parts.

they are probably 3/16" longer than the stock pins. just trim them to length. that package comes with larger top pins as well but i used the stock replacement pins and bushings for those ones.
