OK guys... get over it... I know it is a 727 behind a slant 6. But is there anyway to tell from teh PK number if it is a lockup or not? some of these Qs may seem silly..... but please, bear with me.
I have another /6 in the works, shaved head, cammed up, etc being done up in machine shop jail as we speak. the 727 will stay with the new engine.
truck runs and drives as is, if it does have a lockup, the lockup function is NA. It drives like a non lockup.
I know that I will know if it is a lockup version as soon as engine cones out and I can look at input shaft.
I would not be worried about this, I would just bolt new engine to existing trans and converter and "go", except that by listening to it start, I think it may have ring gear tooth issues. If this is the case I want to slap in a new converter when I swap engines. I have swapped starters with no change in the sound I have.
I know also that for most engine/trans combos have a "factory hi stall" and a "low stall" versions. Can it be told by PK number which this one came with? How "high" is hi stall, how low is low stall?
I have a converter in mind because it seems like a good deal for what it is, but won't work for me if mine is a lockup style trans.

one thing I saw tonite was that it seems to be seeping ATF from the threads of the front band adjuster. I do not think I have seen that before. I also know that sometimes these trannys converters would drain back into case when they sit. could this be why I am seeing the threads on that band adjuster wet with ATF? I powerwashed the snot out of this trans as best I could, this past summer, only about 75 miles on truck since. I got it better than I thought I could for it being still in the truck, except for tailshaft. main case now super clean. previously it was super-coated largely from bad valve cover gasket on engine over the years the PO had it.
is there a place I can look up these PK numbers so I don't have to bug you guys?
