Dash bulbs changing to LEDs question

I know this has been hashed out before.
But I see multiple styles offered

Any thoughts what the difference is

The 5050 will iluminate all around kinda the regular bulb, while the other one just to the front.

I'm still not big fan of led illumination on classic cars where the illumination is designed for a full light coverage all around, but If I had to use those, the 5050 will work for the cluster illumination while the other ones just for cluster pilot lights ( turning, brakes, high beam... ), althought 5050 will work the same... just like regulars.

The deal with those leds so white is it will wash the real color of the lense. I'd go with something closer to a warmer white.

I have to agree here. I tried the led's in my old police car, and instead of the blue-ish green gauge lighting, it was so bright it was washed out white/silver and just didn't look right. If there was a slightly brighter led, and only a bit brighter than the 168/194 bulbs I'd be all for it.

sure, is reflecting the blue lense washed color over the whitish cluster housign.

soo, a warm white will make the job, something like 2500-2800K color temp ( or anything below 4000K )... or colored led ( blue for cluster, and green, red for pilot lights ( blue fior high beams pilot light on post 74 ) .

Althought dunno still dunno how will work. This doesn't show to have a led on top. And doesn't say it's dimmable

nowdays home led replacement bulbs look like these and they are GREAT... once again on home lights. Dunno on automotive applications.
This specifically says is warm white but on specks 6500K ? doesn't make sense, But still I find these very interesting. Still can't find they are dimmable

Reliability is still in question with a lot of brands too. Admittedly, I don't know how to rate the output on the led's, and convert that to the 168/194, as in what would be say 25% brighter.

Though I've not driven it much since I finished with all the electrical work I did on it last winter/spring (including changing dash lights to LED, the dash lights on my '73 truck look pretty good. I ordered from SuperBrightLED, using the warm white bulbs for the gauge cluster. My little OEM bulb surrounds were still good, and my gauge cluster looks pretty much like it used to, except a little nicer. These are dimmable, so you can tone it down if too bright to suit you, with the headlight switch. Plan putting these in my '76 RC and '93 W150 at some point.

I have a few dash lights out and I do have some bulbs here, just thinking if Im under the dash may just update them all to LEDs

And I do want to retain the dimming abilities

I just looked up "By Vehicle" on superbrightleds website and it lists a 135 lumens warm white one for my '89 Diplomat gauges. That seems awful bright.

I also used superbrightleds on my 1970 Monte Carlo. It has a green tint to the instruments for that year. I went with green lights for the dash and blue/red for those that needed that. You want to match the color bulb to the color lens. They are dimmable and plug and play. They do not dim as "smooth" as regular bulbs, but they are nice.

yeap, usually dimming leds are someking "stepped" dimmering than continuous, but better that than nothing.

sometimes they are somehow pulsing signals to make them dimmable which in some case is noticeable and get tired the eyes. Can't tell on these automotive bulbs thought.
