Transmission gears trivia (E-body) - 12/22/20 02:23 AM

Hi....I'm compiling gears for E-bodies for all the transmissions. I'm finding resources I'd expect to be reliable not agreeing with each other, in particular the shop manual and AMA Specifications.

FWIW, I have been to Barry's site, looking at the dealership books, and I'm thinking they're not reliable resources, especially since they were printed early before production commenced.

Can someone point me out to what would be considered the most reliable resource?

Thanks!

Brewers Performance will tell you all you need to know. AAR, T/A, and late small block cars got the 2.47 1st. Light duty before theta got 2.66 1st. Hemi and track pack got 2.65 1st. All automatics were 2.45, 1.45, 1.00

So which engines received the small spline vs. large spline?

Thanks to all so far!

18 spline boxes were installed behind 440’s (4 or 6) and Hemi’s.

One exception, pre-'66 Hemis got the small spline.
