Spark Knock Sensor - 11/28/20 03:47 AM
Does anyone have a way to put a knock sensor on a vintage small block? My hearing is exceptionally bad and can't hear spark knock. Something that would trigger a light or such.
TIA

I don't know of any retrofit kits, but I did hear that the sensor has to be tuned to each motor to be able to discern knock from other engine noises while running. Not sure how easy that would be without some other method of differentiating the noises.
I would be interested in one too. Perhaps, AndyF or Rich from Fast EFI will chime in?

here is an expensive European one that claims to be able to detect knock cylinder by cylinder
https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor/Years ago MSD sold a simple cheap one

Plex is commonly used by tuners, it's not cheap though.

http://www.jandssafeguard.com/NewUniversal/UniversalVersion.htmlJust found this looking around Google. Will actually pull timing out of individual cylinders if it hears a knock.
