Poly 318 intake gaskets? - 11/08/20 10:47 PM

Looking for suggestions, stock/original 1961 Poly 318, Weiand 7501 aluminum 4 bbl intake install....I see a few current offerings from the cottage aftermarket for intake gaskets, composite, steel, steel core composite, hoping someone has some recommendations for a good supplier/quality gaskets that actually fit/work without issues using an aftermarket aluminum intake...TIA

Any of the composite gaskets would be fine for your aluminum intake (if you can locate them). Do not use steel. Those are meant for cast iron intakes. I bought several NOS Offenhauser Poly intake gaskets from a seller on Ebay who seems to be a regular seller. I suggest you keep checking there.

Thanks!...yep aware the steel gaskets are for cast iron intakes, there's one cottage mfg making composites with a steel core, not to sure what to make on them, they come in at .050 thick with a silicone print-o-seal, I've scanned Ebay but no luck so far.... would prefer mfg recommended gaskets

hi

steel just for cast iron ????

most all 361 383 413 426w 440 use a steel shim valley pan gasket iron or alu intakes !

i have use many on the b rb motors with no prob .

more important is the fit between heads and block for good seal !

Agreed, however the subject is a 1961 318 Poly, very much like a smblk LA (67- up) mopar, just front/rear seals and runner gaskets, no valley pan/gasket

Moparx, I've got the info on Toth's gasket offerings, will probably lean that way, just exploring any other avenues/options/preferred choices that might be available?

Thanks

i didn't know if you knew about Toth or not.
i don't know much about poly's other than the ones i have had over the years.
that just amounts to some ran great, while others were junk.
