Need Help ID'ing a 727 Transmission - 11/06/20 05:19 AM

I'm working on my wife's 75 Duster 360 (real 360 car)..

The transmission (727) is stumping me because I'm not getting it to kick down like I expect it to. Lots of forums searches and reading tells me that unless it has a Part Throttle Kickdown, I can expect it not to downshift unless wide open.

I have no idea of the origins of the transmission, only that it's clean on the inside (I just dropped and changed the pan & gasket and topped it off while idling hot & in neutral).

Attached is a picture of the numbers on the drivers side housing. J2801542 3548481

I went over this list here : ( http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/transguide.pdf ) and it skips from 3516868 to 3633552
I have no idea of the transmission is original to the car and that's not even a real issue for me.

I think I was looking at the wrong numbers.

2801542 would be a 1967 Dodge/Plymouth 318 Exc (Excluding???) Police/Taxi

I believe the part throttle KD did not arrive until sometime in the mid ? 70's . That would concur with what you've been being told and the above Information. The good news is the earlier ones can be updated. I am not sure what all that requires but it can be done in the car. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject will chime in beer

it looks like 71 was the year. i think the /6 cars were first, as i remember mopar action did an article one time and said the /6 PTK module could be used and would retrofit to earlier valve bodies.
the pics posted are from a B&M shift kit.
hopefully, they will help.

No earlier than '67. '71 was the first year for the V8 PTK, '67 for the /6 PTK.

thanks for setting the record straight john.
now that you mentioned it, i remember the article said the /6 was first before 71, but i don't/didn't remember just how many years before.
at least the pics show what the PTK valve looks like and where it goes.
