Lock Right

Lock Right - 10/29/20 12:08 PM

Anyone using a Lock Right in their differential. I see used one that is set up in a carrier without gears and new bearings. It's about the same price as just the "locker" it self. Any input regarding this swap is appreciated.
Thanks

I know a lot of people who have used them with good results in Ford 8.8" rear ends. Although, all have been used for offroading, not for use in street cars.

I have one in an Ford 8.8 axle that is installed in my Jeep Cherokee. Its been in there for close to 15 years and 50-60,000 miles. I really can't say anything bad about it. It has seen lots of abuse, poor fluid maintenance(lots of water in diff) and has done great. It has slipped before but it was in circumstances where it was totally abused. Pulling a dead jeep, lots of rocks, big tires, heavy throttle lol.

As far as race car stuff a friend of mine had one in a stick shift mustang that ran 10.30s and didn't have any trouble with it.

I have one in my 9 1/4 truck axle. the first time I drove it I had a loud pop and thought for sure it broke something. nope. just slow speed and tight turns on pavement tends to lock it and it bucks slightly and pops now and then. that popping is the teeth locking together and is more often with the manual trans than the auto trans. once I drove it and got use to it I have hammered it hard for yrs now. I have done burn outs pop the clutch @ 4500 rpm, bang 1 & revs stuck in mud as hard as I could hammer it. IMHO well worth the $ and effort to install. way easer on the bench than on your back under the truck/car but it is doable.

I am not scared of it making noise now and just hammer down with it, and I hardly ever get stuck in the truck off rod with it in the rear-end. my buddy has one in his Toyota 4x4 and it does the same thing and works fine.
