When painting, with rattle can, should you paint primer first and then color
or just paint the color coat on the sandblasted surface ?

What do the instructions on the can call for? I've seen both depending on paint type and vendor.

I blast parts, then spray down with brake kleen, let dry, then apply a coat of rattle can self-etching primer, wait about 20-30 minutes, then spray with your color coat. Works beautifully.

If blasting , i use a self etching primer. What i have found was , the rattle can did give me the final finish i like. Ended up scuffing and shot with a spray gun outside. Turned out really nice !! Rust-oleum !!

Hulmule, did you shoot Rustoleum through your gun, I didn't know they sold bulk paint.
As you can tell, I have a lot to learn !

Next time before sand blasting soak the parts in Evaporust overnight , this product removes all the rust , works good
