Hurst shifter question - 08/30/20 08:04 PM

I have a hurst 7236 shift handle, could I get it to work with the comp plus shifter I have for my 68 Charger?

So I take it your shifter is a bayonet type unit and the shift lever is a bolt on stick. You can install a bolt on stick receiver in your current shifter housing or I have seen sticks modified to fit a bayonet type receiver. I think the bolt ion deal is a much better choice and you also freshen it up when you swap in the new parts twocents

I was more wondering if it would interfere with the seat or things like that . Tim

Is that stick the one with a bunch of noddle bends it like the stock bench seat handle or is it flat with a bunch of bends side ways to clear the consoles?
One way to find out, that or a picture would help us see it work grin

That one looks like the earl, pre 1966, B body shifter with no console twocents

I don't think that one will work with a bench seat, buckets only with no console twocents

Charger has buckets

The intended application of the #7236 handle is 1967-69 Camaro 1968-72 Chevelle.
I think it would be too short for a 68 Charger.

I've personally used the #7236 handle (1967-69 Camaro 1968-72 Chevelle) in a 1969 GTX- buckets, no console- and it does not work well. Basically, 2nd gear has the stick into the driver's seat.

Ok, Great, at least I now know what I am into, I will have to look at the other one and see if it fits. I think its from a 72 A body.

***CORRECTION***

I tried an 8022, not a 7236- and it was not a good fit.

Sorry for the mis-information here.

The 7926 is for A-Body I believe.
