72 and 73 Charger hoods interchange? - 08/23/20 08:02 PM

I found a bulge hood from a 73 Charger and want to put it on my 72 Charger. Do they interchange and are there any differences in them?

The power bulge hood will work on your '72....only difference I know of is different versions of the cowl vent slits at the rear of hood. Some ran the length of the back of hood, others were broken up in the middle, not sure which years this was done, off the top of my head right now. twocents

So 71 vents go all the way across, 73 has two separate smaller vents one on each side. Anyone have a pic of a 72 hood?

I have a '74 bulge hood on my '71. Interchange is no problem.

Thanks everyone. I bought a 73 hood for a good price. Having a friend pick it up for me in Maryland.

The only problem interchanging 71/72 and 73/74 hoods between them is when trying to fit a 71/72 into a 73/74 car. A vertical "filler" on front of hoods of 71/72 hoods is larger which disturbs with 73/74 top of fender brackets with bumper because these brackets are wider and straight on 73/74 while 71/72 are like wire shaped and angled to sway this filler. So this filler must be trimmed out to fit the 71/72 hoods on 73/74

The other way around ( 73/74 into a 71/72 ) is not a problem.
