That's what I would have assumed, but when I looked up drums on Rock Auto they didn't show an 11x2.5 drum. Only an 11" drum for the rear with no width.
Now that I checked the 1965 numbers vs a 1969 Coronet, they still only say 11" rear with no width but the part number is the same. I just hate to order something, especially a heavy set of drums, and have to send them back.
I guess a 383 car with 11" drums got a 2.5" shoe for the rear. I know that the fronts on this car were 11x3".
A couple years ago I got drums at O'Reillys. The drums were the same front and rear 3" and 2.5". The drum had a deep lip to allow it to fit well over the backing plate in the rear taking up the extra .5". These are ribbed drums.
The 3 65 Ive had all had 10 inch rears. The one I have now was BB 4 speed.Bought the car in69.Now has 69 RT rear.It has 11 2 1/2 drums rears.Just ordered new shoes and cylinders etc from Rockauto for it.The old rear with the 10s we used drums on my kids 80 Truck the housing went under hi 62 300 and used the 69 C body drums backing plates etc..Drums from say a 69 Rt should fit.Rocky d

I keep pretty good records. That is the part number I have listed for the 11 x 2 1/2 drums I bought for my GTX. I am 95% sure that part number is 11 x 2 1/2.

Well dang, I didn't realize that you had a link there. Thank you.
I ordered a set from RA so we'll see what shows up.
over the many years i have played with 11" rear drum brakes, i have used the drums from trucks, vans, and C bodies interchangeably, from about '66 or so, up into the '80's. as long as they have the 4 1/2" bolt pattern, they fit, either as a complete assembly [backing plate included], or as just a replacement drum. as stated, they come with or without ribs. it will be interesting to see what rock sends.
