U-joint Strength comparison - 03/27/09 12:50 PM

How do the Mopar (Detroit) 72 series stack up against the spicer 13 series??

I'm under the impression it goes like this

1310
7260 Small Mopar
1330
7290 Big Mopar
1350

Is this right??

How does the 1330 stack up against the 7290.

Found my answer so I figured I'd share.

The 7260 and 7290 series are the two sizes that are commonly found on Chrysler products. They represent the two stock sizes that have been used for many years. The 7260 series is the “small” Chrysler u-joint size and the 7290 series is the “big” Chrysler u-joint size. The 7260 series is similar in size to the 1310 series and the 7290 is similar in size to the 1330 series. They both utilize the inside “C” clip design to hold the u-joint within the yoke whereas the 1310 and 1330 use the outside snap ring design.

Thanks for that info, i didn't know that.

2 weeks ago i went to the auto parts store and the guy told me he could not sell me a u-joint for my 1997 1500 ram because they came from the factory with 5 different u-joints and i would have to bring my old one in.

Chris - The crosses that I have for the 1330 and 7290 are identical. Only the caps are different. That same cross can be used for the 7290, 1330 and for 7290/1330 conversion
