What colour is this ? - 05/31/20 10:41 AM

Looking to repaint my Dart and like this colour, ideally would like a modern more available colour that is very close.

Beautiful color. For situations like yours, I always go to autocolorlibrary.com and then plug in the category, brand and year of car you're looking for paint information on. Not knowing completely the year of your car, I used 1969 and came up with (2) options for your paint: "Light Turquoise Poly" & "Bright Turquoise Poly". Color numbers are 2028 & 13535 respectively. It appears to be the "Bright" version however.

I think it's Q5 also.

If it's Q5, any automotive paint dealer should be able to look up the formula and mix that up in whatever type of paint you desire, acrylic, polyurethane or base coat clear coat.

That Bee is a great color, but in that photo and on my monitor looks darker than true Q5.
IIRC, there was a C-body turquoise like that.
That '68 Satellite or Road Runner looks roughly about B5 but a bit milkier.
Best to spend some time at the local paint jobber, find the oldest, most experienced guy there...

Q5 turquoise metallic in 1969. 67-68 had two colors, LL1 dark turquoise and KK1 light turquoise.

Yep.
I would put money on it,its Q5.
I have pictures of mine that it is very green too.
Look up Q5 cars you will find all kinds of shades because of lighting angles digital cameras etc..

If you take that picture to a automotive paint dealer he could tell you what color is the closest. They can do digital paint matching.

MINI has a "Caribbean Aqua Metallic" but I'd imagine a modern paint for a modern car would be expensive shruggy compared to Q5 in a modern paint system

all the 1969 Q5 cars look different because of different paint systems from different manufacturers painted by different shops with different techniques over the past 50 years - NONE of it is "the SAME"

That's 1969 Q5 PPG paint code 13534 Bright Turquoise Poly, sometimes referred to as "seafoam" depending on whether your looking at a Plymouth or Dodge paint chart, if mixed properly, the pearl and metallic additives cause the paint to "flop" in different lighting changing from blue to blueish greens as well the metallic/pearl "shimmering" effects , very striking colour... as mentioned find a good paint guy to mix it, problem with most mixers today is the computer generated formulas are condensed by the paint mfg's to offer one colour that's "close" in match, most if not all ALT's have been deleted from mix programs, if your mixer only has one mix formula available, ask to look at the paint keys for the shade range so that you can find the ALT mix formula your looking for.... I'd recommend a BC/CC for a true dynamic finish, but 69 Q5 looks great even when shot in straight enamel (OEM)

FYI, keep in mind regardless of how successful your color match mix, it can/will be altered by value shade/primer base changes, coverage/technique by the painter, personally I'd shoot it in Dupont Chroma Premier CC/BC (now Axalta Chromax), I'd imagine the value shade is probably 4, but a lighter value shade up to 1/white would really set that color on fire

My 69 GTS 383 4-speed in 1982. The old instamatic camera is not up to snuff with the modern cameras...LOL The F5 door at least makes you see the differences in those colors...

Agreed. Looking at the background, it appears this was taken under an overpass. I've never seen that area as bright as this picture shows it.

The pic the OP posted of that car looks to me like Q5 Turqoise...my '69 Dart was that color from the factory...I unfortunately don't have a picture of it though. frown
