Un-bending Trans lines (from shipping) - 05/27/2003:24 PM
I ordered some pre-bent trans lines. Of course to save $5 on shipping they bent on line in 2 spots. What is the best way to un-bend it w/o messing up the line.

If it was the company place or choice to bend it like that and not your doing, I'd contact the company and let them know about it and have them ship you one that isn't bent.

I just had a fine line brake line for my crewcab, long bed 2003 Dodge and it was shipped in a small box it had three bends in it. I simply laid it out on the floor and worked out each way from the bend. They flattened out very good and look and fit exactly in the stock spot.

Summit sells a tool to straighten small tubing, but it's expensive; maybe you can find a cheaper one on line. It has two rows of rolls and you adjust the space between the two rows and pass the tubing between the two rows. That what's the industry uses for industrial applications of any size and will certainly work for you.

This...
The gentle bends straighten out very easily. Just set the bend on the ground and slowly unbend it. Using the ground is key. Don't just try to unbend it while holding it in the air.

I've straightened out lines with a couple 2x4's and a heavy dead blow mallet. I just drive to Finelines about 10 minutes from my home and pick them up unbent
