Locksmiths: repinning ignition cylinder - 05/06/20 12:36 PM

Years ago I bought a three lock kit for the Cuda. I wanted keyed alike convenience. Turns out the ignition cylinder was wrong without enough travel to start the car all the time. I got a new lock and it has a lot more travel and has an accessory position the previous lock did not have.
Now the question. The silver cover over the pins appears to be crimped on. How do you remount the cover if the crimps are not in one piece after opening it up? I already took the pins out of the old lock.
I want one key convenience but I do not want to open the new lock if I can't put it back together.
TIA, Craig

HI
use a pair of pliers, squeeze crimp flat, pop out tin cover, recrimp with punch, done it several times

Thanks. That was what I wanted to hear. Have done lots of door, trunk and glove box locks but they are very different.
