installing a 383 from a 4 speed car into a car with a 727,
do i need to remove pilot bearing or will the converter seat into the crank just fine?

I don't know why you'd need to remove the pilot bushing. assuming it's a stock bronze bushing.

engine had a 4 speed behind it, so theres a bearing inset in the back of the crank for the input shaft of a manual trans.

If it has the factory installed bronze bushing then you will not need to remove it. IF it has the popular roller bearing swap then yes you will need to remove that for the converter to fit properly. Todd
