383 speed pro 2315 pistons assembly - 04/13/20 04:41 PM

Hi I ordered a set of flat top 383 pistons - speed pro 2315s - I got 8 ea having arrow in the same direction. Shouldnt there be 4 left and 4 right for each bank? Or they are interchangeable right/left ? The supplier doesnt state there are left/right versions while ordering separate pistons...
thanks

rights and lefts are more specific for pistons with asymmetrical valve reliefs; which the 2315's don't have. .

And...... 2315’s have offset pins.
The arrow points towards the front so the offset is oriented correctly.

Pistons with no pin offset and either no valve pockets or symmetrical pockets can go in any hole.

Ok, the pin is offset but top is flat so one side can have arrow to the front and the other to the back? Definaty the set I got has 8 pistons of the same constructon and markings.

I believe the arrow should point to the front on both sides.

the arrows should point to the front on both sides. IIRC the font will be right side up on one side and upside down on the other. of course you could do the old time speed secret and put them in backwards (arrows on both sides facing to the rear).

to make it clear - are there speed pro 2315 pistons in LEFT and RIGHT option
or
there is only ONE shape/dimension/construction and I just follow the arrows?

Lay the pistons on your bench with arrows facing you.
The pins will be offset to the left.

If so - you have the correct pistons.

It really couldn’t be any simpler.
L2315’s are a forged stock replacement piston.
Just like the OE pistons they replace, there is no left or right.

Just install on the rods correctly so that when installed in the motor, the arrows point towards the front.

Williard - the arrows mean nothing to performance or NVH. They are simply installation aids.

I have seen many parts mistamped in 50 years. I’m not saying your pistons are mistamped.

If you want to make sure you install the pistons correctly check the pin offset.

Paying attention to detail usually pays off in the end.

I'm curious, what heads are you using and what compression ratio are you going to end up with? Thanks.
