Hydraulic Boost Brakes

Hydraulic Boost Brakes - 03/24/20 12:52 AM

Has any one installed and know of a vendor to purchase a hydraulic boost?

I found one from CPP but it is 16” long. 3” longer than a stock vacuum booster and MC. 16” is doable but I would prefer not to take up more space.

Thanks Paul

I bought the Hydratech set-up through Bergman autocraft. It fit without any issues and stops way better then the manual brakes ever did.

Nice, I will give them a look. Is it shorter than 16”?

I have couple videos up if you want to see what it looks like in a challenger. The hydroboost units are all the same and yes they stick out longer from the firewall.

Mine is from Custom Power Brake from Texas. Mounts where power booster was and connects to original power brake linkage. This mount location sticks out forward a little more and higher than Hydratech.

Hydratech mounts where manual master cylinder mounts and connects direct to brake arm. Sticks out a little less when mounted here but its lower, putting the master cylinder closer to the exhaust manifold.

I have 440 with cast manifold, not header so master would be very close to hot manifold. Thats why I picked custom power brake unit.

I put a kit from these guys on my '69 Super Bee a few years ago: http://www.hydratechbraking.com/Mopar_B_Body.html

Fits and works very well. From the firewall, to the end of the booster (including the aluminum mounting plate which replaces the stock mounting plate) is approx 7.25". I use a Wilwood master, so I'm not sure what the total length would be with a stock master.

There were a few "homegrown" kits I've seen using a Chevy unit. It takes a custom mounting plate, using a 2001 ish Astro van. Probably can get in junkyard very cheap. I think you definitely need to use the more modern m/c. If I remember correct, Dale's Cuda shop has done it and used to sell the mounting plate. I asked about it a while ago and he only made a few of them, don't think he made anymore though. If you go this route, please post back what you used and total cost. I would like to add to my barracuda at some point.

Found some more info, get all the stuff of of a diesel ram.... check out these threads, also supposed to be a lot of info on www.forabodiesonly.com https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopa...to-a-hyroboost-mc.174046/#post-911276395
