The speedo is also wacko.

abd sensor in / on top of the rearend. been there many times.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. A mechanic buddy is leaning towards a speed sensor in the trans... that has gone out before and it seems like the truck just didn't know when to shift.

This one acts much different. Everything appears to be working ok... just the idiot lights for ABS and brakes... the speedo doesn't work until above about 20mph.

Mine was the one on top of the rear end.....
It wasnt pretty....

The spring washer in the Sure Grip shattered and apparently hit the sensor and one tooth on the tone ring..
I pulled it apart right away, cleaned everything and put a new sensor in about 10k miles ago..so far Sure grip is toast tho..

Thanks to you my troubles only took a few minutes to repair. I had the exact same symptoms on my 99 Ram and it turned out to be the speed sensor!

I like easy...
