68 -70 340 exhaust manifolds - 12/26/19 02:29 AM

I am looking to purchase the above and have come to realize that some manifolds have the casting number with the pentastar logo and some manifolds have no pentastar. Also the date codes on some manifolds are very clear on the manifold and some manifolds don’t have any? Are the manifolds without the PENTASTAR service replacements?

Thanks!

340?

If so, sometime during the 1970 model year a new casting with no embossed / cast numbers on the driver side manifold.

There should be numbers in the back near the bend in the 1970 style drivers side manifold. Pretty much all 68-69 manifolds have the numbers on the front surface.

I have a original 340 assembled in April of 1970, that does not have any casting numbers or dates on either manifold.

1969 Barracuda 340, scheduled build date 11/8/68, actually built late November 1968, engine assembled 11/1/68. No Pentastar on one manifold that was cast 10/15/68.

Will you confirm? Does or does not have the date codes?

My car is a March 11 built AAR

Thanks

No casting numbers No casting dates. Engine was assembled 4/16/70. Here are some pictures after I pulled them off the engine , bead blasted them and repaired the heat riser.

They could be the reproduction manifolds, though the passenger side does not come with the flapper it could have been added.

Only if the reproductions come with rust pits?

I never found any numbers or date codes on my T/As exhaust manifolds. I’ve had the car since ‘78 and it’s numbers matching, so I assume they are the originals.

Not repos, here's a pic from a few years ago in the car with the worn out riser wired open.

Pictures always help, where were those earlier? I have never seen a set without casting numbers and date codes, that is why I said that and I have probably seen over 1000 sets. Anything is possible when you talk about Chrysler... shruggy

Have you done a metallurgical test to see if they are cast with the same process as the originals? I didn't think so... eyes
