What aftermarket Cruise Control do you use?

Will be adding cruise to a few cars over the winter. Just curious which ones people are using and why. We used to put the ones out of a 5th avenue on, but finally ran out. I'd like to avoid the long stalk off the wheel.

For what type of car?

I added it to my 1970 Fury III sedan but I located all the correct vintage parts first.

There used to be companies like Fridgette and ARA that made aftermarket cruise systems for non-OEM cars that installed very easily, had their own control systems. Many moons ago I worked at a company installing these. The option of an OEM style stalk controller or a dash mounted box were available. Not sure if they still exist or if they have been replaced by more solid state type of units.

I bet some one at Car Toys could answer that question.

Rostra does that still.

I never liked the flying magnets speed sensor nor using the tach signal. But you could adapt a STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS SC108 to provide both an electrical signal for the CC and keep your mechanical speedometer or use the Rostra adapter if it'll work for you.

I installed one bought at J C Whitney years ago. The controller attached to the turn signal stalk. It was a little trial and error but it worked ok for what it was. This was late 80,early 90.

You just took the words out of my mouth! I put a JC Whitney unit on my 81 elCamino around 1988 for our big fishing trip to Boundary Waters Minn and it worked great!

The Rostra units work pretty well. You have to buy the switch separately these days, but there are several switch units to choose from. Gene

Ole JCW used to have a very wide range of selection .... not any more though.

Before I moved up to northern Michigan I bought 4 sets on a close out .... they are gone.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but any recommendations for a 2 4's set up?

Thos look similar to what I was installing wit Fridgette and ARA. Electronic module with a cable actuated throttle kit and an inline speed sensor running off the speedo cable. Beat the hell out of the flying magnet kits of the time.
