I believe on this bellhousing you must use the LS style 4l60e/4l65e based transmission which uses a larger torque convertor and longer input shaft than the 97-2002 Vortec based 4l60e type transmission, it will save you some headaches if you end up with the wrong transmission.

I saw that one before, but isn't there a gm bell housing with a flywheel conversion.. Trans isn't a problem, have tons of them.

Silver sport has one, but won't sell it,don't want to break up a kit, what ever... JW Performance is putting together a kit for me , where you use a newer mopar starter.. with one of their ultra bells, direct bolt it...so far they are the only ones helping... up I can't see spending 4-5 grand when I can do everything else.. cross member, driveshaft, trans, etc...

Just a question. Why are you going to that swap?

Re: Mopar conversion - 12/12/19 09:55 PM

You cant beat the quality of shift you get with a 4l65, no cutting like the 518,I do drive trains and transmission for a living,I wanted to do this earlier ,but Silver Sport Trans is the only game in town and they wont sell me parts, just a complete kit, thats fine that their business, I understand.. but I'm not gonna spend thousands.. this is actually a simple swap, Waited for someone else to make a bell...I talked to Stu before his passing, for alittle insight, to see if was pleased, he was more than happy, I have a gear vender in now, it works well, but clunky as heck.. This will be user friendly and a bolt in.... up

Re: Mopar conversion - 12/13/19 02:02 AM

So they are making an Ultrabell bellhousing that will bolt a big block mopar directly to a Vortec based 4l60e? If so thats very interesting since it looks like using the quicktime bellhousing with the LS based 4l60e is tends to move the trans to far into the tunnel on the 70 and older B Bodies and you have to start doing tunnel modifications to make it fit.

Re: Mopar conversion - 12/13/19 02:48 AM

no. just the trans with bell attached, has to be removed ,just like the bell on a 518, witch I have no problem with, pretty much 93-2002 ? not the bolt ons...Not the 300 mm shafts

Re: Mopar conversion - 12/13/19 03:12 AM

So just to clarify they are making the Ultra bell bellhousing fit the the 4l60e transmission with the non-removable bellhousings and obviously cut the bell housing off like the 518 transmission? My assumption is this might work for the 700r4 transmission as well? Do you have a part# and cost?

Re: Mopar conversion - 12/13/19 05:26 AM

let us know how it works out.
The TCI 6x (4l80?) trans kit for Mopar Big block that Mike is using in his '69 Coronet moves the trans closer to the back of the engine and there is a spacer that moves the starter away from the bell housing. This created problems with the header tube, that needed to be cut out and a new one installed to clear the re-located starter.

Re: Mopar conversion - 01/27/20 03:07 PM

part # for the bellhousing is 92456-700
part # for the flywheel 6 bolt 93009-c flywheel adapter 80012
part # for the flywheel 8 bolt 93010-c flywheel adapter 80013
this was alot easier than I thought, you can use your factory starter, but they prefer the later , smaller one, I'm running a 89 dodge truck starter for years now...
