centerforce dual friction on a stock 340 a body?

opinions on a centerforce dual friction clutch on a bone stock 340 a body. not a race car just a driver. good plan? waste of money? buddy has one in the box 1/2 price of new so kinda hard to pass it up.

Excellent clutch IMO and wee have installed many. A bit overkill for a stock 340 but that won't cause any issues. DO at a bare minimum have the flywheel resurfaced or preferably replace it. Also, you will have to remove the override spring under the dash.

Great clutch with a fairly factory feel. Not that it's the same but, I have one in my 97 Cobra daily driver; it has just exhaust and a gear. I had one in a foxbody Mustang too that had mild bolt ons. I think it's all I'll use unless I get something with some real power.

Yes, nice clutch with a firm feel.

Mine has been behind a buit 440 for years.Stil works great and has light pressure.Do break it in as the instructions say.Ill buy another when I replace mine.Rocky

Best clutch I have ever used. behind a mid 12 second small block E body for 10,000 miles, 100 passes with slicks. Still like new. Shifts very well also.

Is there a lot of traffic and or steep hills where you live? Those clutches don't like a lot of stop and go driving.

Stop and go all the time where I live.Never a problem.But then Ive driven clutch since I bought my 65 in 69 and before.Some hills and thats not a problem either.Rocky

What issues? My centerforce has never slipped or chattered.

I ran a dual friction centerforce in my old 91 mustang. It ran low 12s and that clutch was great, smooth, strong, and easy to drive.

I live in East Tn in the foot hills of the mountains and get behind 5, or more cars on a steep hill with a stop sign. It will get hot and start to squeal some and smoke.. Even does it in a parade

Are you holding the car on the hill with the clutch?

I know it's not a small block or a classic Mopar but I put a centerforce in my Wrangler and it was the BEST upgrade I made to it. And I have also driven DVW'S wife's Challenger numerous times and agree with what he has already posted.

No, never would do that. Other than that I really like the clutch.

I used one for the first time this year and it's a very nice street clutch. It is vary smooth and predictable on the street but I haven't raced with it yet and it hooks so well I'm not sure I want to let the clutch pedal fly with sticky slicks on it because it might just be firm enough to break an 18 spline box.

I have one behind a 472 Hemi and one in my 69 z28. Work great. Like other poster, remove the spring under the dash. The guy who had my GTX did not and felt like it was going to shove my knee thru the steering wheel. Not much fun to take out either!!

Gus they do hook hard.No slicks but with my wide street tires they still grab great.My 65 lights thme up even at a roll out.Im like you Id be kinda leary to drop the hammer with slicks.Mines like 20 years old and still going strong.Rocky
