1971 Cuda Option Costs?

Does anyone have a list of option cost for the 1971 Cuda? I do not have a window sticker for my 71 Cuda and trying to figure out what the window sticker / cost was back in the day.

The costs will be different depending if the car was bought new in Canada or the U.S. Member 6bblgt probably has the info. you are looking for. He'll probably chime in here at some point.

See reference to models with basic group code A04 , assuming this must be a code that gave a group of basic options?

The only way to know that is to have the original.

Sadly, there are people out there who make fakes.

Thankfully they are easily spotted though.

The best advice I can give anyone is to not make fake documentation of any kind.

It taints a cars history.

Fun to just see what car might of cost back in the day, One that always stands out is the cost of the cutting edge technology of the Radio / Cassette option (R 36)

He's not saying will be making a "fake", just curious what it would have cost back then.

Thanks for the window sticker examples, anyone know how the destination chargers were calculated? Assuming must of had some sort of list that related to dealership location and added to the cost based on that. How about the few export cars that were built and shipped?

Amazes me that A/C cost more than a 440 Six Pak........by a significant amount too.

at first, yes, quite interesting difference but when you think about it, it makes sense. A/C added several additional items that didn't come on non A/C cars (compressor, condenser, lines,...) whereas a six pack "only" replaced parts: intake manifold, rods, pistons, linkage, air cleaner. Only items that were additional are the two extra carbs.

Makes sense lots of new stuff added with A/C.

How about going the other way a car that has the code H25 heater delete, did the Chrysler give the buyer a credit????

I'll have to expand on this a bit: Put another way, a 383 or 340 'Cuda is a cheaper car than a 318 Barracuda with a/c.

'Cuda V8: $3134.00

Barracuda V8: 2846.00 + $370.00 (a/c) = $3216.00

'Cuda V8: $3134.00 + $253.00 (440-6)= $3387.00

There's only $170.00 difference between a/c and 440-6 car.

Yes, the a/c option gives you lines, a compressor, and dash vents, but the "Cuda with 440-6 gave you too many upgrades from the Barracuda to list.

Like to meet the person who budgeted $720.00 for the tape, microphone and a/c instead of paying for the 426. lol.

It's always interesting to think back to what we would have ordered/bought back in the early 70s. I looked at ordering a Camaro SS 350 in late 1971 but it was coming in at over $4000. I was making around $350/month as an E-4 in the Navy. The options I wanted were killing me. Paying $300 for an option would chew up a months pay. I just couldn't swing the payments. When my Challenger convertible came up for sale in June 72 at $1950, I jumped at the chance to buy it. My payments were $94/month. Tight, but do-able. I've never regret getting the Mopar. As a side note, my insurance threatened to drop me. Being 19 years old, my agent told me anything I bought had to be less than 350 cubic inches displacement or go find another company. The 340 in my convertible fit the bill and they insured me with no problem. Go figure.

Terry glad Camaro didn't work out LOL, ending up with a cool Mopar and even cooler car when the roof is down must of been met to be. That is great having you share the math and reasons why things happened back in the 70s.

Option costs changed through the model year, so looking at any 71 window sticker isn't necessarily going to be a correct number for your car.
