R&R electric fans as a “maintenance” item ?? - 09/29/19 12:23 PM

I had the fan blades on a 05 vehicle break apart and take outa radiator! LUCKILY... this happened locally so I could fix it me-self.

Was told by one guy that the plastic ages over time and becomes brittle.

I made the decision NOT to even consider a junk yard piece JSTA buy a new one. - there’s one on the BAG for 40 beans delivered to my door. CONSIDERING now replacing the pass side also ...

How many others have experienced these same issues?

yup on my neighbor's 95 Ranger. Didn't break yet but was cracked so bad that it was definitely not far from it. I was doing other work on it when I noticed it.

My daughter's 97 Exploder's engine driven fan was scary cracked where is was molded around the metal center. I bought a new Ford one from RA and replaced it. I see Spectra makes an all metal one now.

Not a common problem.
Currently have an '06 and two '07s.
Been running this kind of junk for years.
Never had a fan break up.
Luck of the draw I guess.

As Rosanrosenadanas Dad used to say,
It's always sumpthin'.
shruggy
Wish ya better luck in the future.

I'm not suggesting that the fan BLEW UP like the pic shows .... one blade probably broke then that piece then other pieces took the toll then it jammed and blew the fuse.

That fan looks like it was baked at 500 degrees with a dash of ozone on top.
