Front end rebuild

Getting ready to rebuild the front end of my 68 Sport Satellite convertible and am looking at Moog problem solver ball joints through Rock Auto. Is the Moog quality still good or are there better parts out there?

Proforged is a better choice today. Available from Rockauto, Amazon, Ebag, etc.

proforged seems to be the best out there, unless you can get old stock [12-15yr old at least] moog.

I went to Rock Auto and looked at the ProForged parts. I have a question about the adjusting sleeves for the tie rods. I read somewhere that you should upgrade to the 11/16" adjusters. My car will have a rebuilt 383 with an Eddie Performer RPM, Holley 670 Street Avenger and a small cam. No high go here. Do I really need to upgrade the sleeves? If so, is the larger 11/16" on both ends? I'm new to this so please be kind of you think this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance.

Vert there are no stupid questions. Yes 11/16 on both ends & need the C body 11/16 tie rod ends. Is 11/16 needed I cannot say but many many cars are doing fine with the 9/16 ends

Not sure i'd use aluminum sleeves with steel ends.

The autocross guys like the rigidity of the larger tie rods, but they are not at all necessary for most of us. I have never ran anything other than the stock smaller tie rods on any of my builds, whether they were going on the street or to the drag strip.

at one time, the 11/16" C-body sleeves and ends were cheaper than the traditional 9/16" size.
i don't know if it's like that now or not.
last time i looked was 10 or more years ago.

if the 11/16 are still cheaper then for sure go for it otherwise unless you are autocrossing/circle track or some other serious corner carving, 9/16 will suffice.

Oval track is the only place 11/16 is needed, because other cars lean on you. Any other racing can get by with 9/16 and some places might even prefer 7/16.

Unless there is a big price saving swapping over the stock 9/16 stuff to 11/16, don't bother.

I bought a set of NOS ball joints off Ebay. Parts boxes looked like they were from the 80's and said made in USA so that was good enough for me.

Price was not that much either.

use the old ones if they are 11/16 (matches your 11/16 tie rod ends). If your old ones are 9/16 & you have ordered 11/16 tie rod ends then yes you will need new or used 11/16 sleeves

I checked Rock Auto and the 11/16" ones are a little over $15 each and the 9/16" ones are almost $34. The only adjusters they sell are the aluminum ones. These are the Pro Forged parts that have been recommended. I checked the C body adjusters and they are the same part number and are 11/16". It's about the same price either way I go.
