black coating on AMD panels. Leave on or remove? - 08/28/19 12:21 AM

Do you people recommend removing the black coating on AMD replacement panels? will be spraying epoxy primer soon and wondering if the primer will bite bare metal better than the black coating from AMD.

car is a fastback barracuda with new full quarters and rear valence from AMD

thanks

We always remove it on exterior surfaces-it’s not worth the risk trusting it to do the job a good epoxy can do.

At Carlisle, there was a restorers panel session and they all said always remove it down to bare metal. Plus they said to always wear a mask because the black coating is a lung health hazard!! I had not heard that before.

Remove it and treat it to either an etch-primer or epoxy coat
