My first experience with SS band clamps was decades ago on my trucks. I really like them, I haven't used a u bolt clamp in years.
I've used numerous brands, never found any noticeable differences.

I used the ones from Summitt. They may have been Pypes brand. But I liked them real well.

I have a set on the exhaust on my coupe (both sides of the mufflers), they have been there about 6 years. Just recently, the clamps are allowing one of the offset mufflers to turn, which is also turning the tail pipe. it gives me an annoying rattle. It seems to take a few months before the tail pipe turns that 1/2" and begins to rattle again. The bolts are tight, and it doesn't appear to have a leak (so far) but I have had to twist the tailpipe to the correct position a few times. The time before last I tack welded the clamp to the pipe, it simply tore a chunk out of the clamp and turned. The stainless is very thin. There will likely be new mufflers coming next year, so I'll deal with it between now and then. The new mufflers will probably not get the stainless band clamps. My clamps came from Summit. Gene

that's kind of interesting to hear about the turning issue.
my tailpipes have a flat tab welded to them that is used as a hanger, so i shouldn't have to worry about them turning.
thanks for the suggestions guys !

I found them to be great clamps, and used bunches of them on gas GM school bus fleet years ago. We had 4" pipes and found you really had to crank them down or they would move around in little time.

I use them on my cars too. I also put a small spot weld on the tube and muffler to stop them from moving. A quick hit with an angle grinder is all it takes to separate them when needed.

I have them on my Satellite. To prevent the tail pipes from turning simply drill a small hole through the pipe and clamp, and put a short screw in it. .125" dia. is plenty. If you ever have to separate the pipes it makes it easy to re-align them too.

I like your short bolt thought thats a good idea. I have only installed them with 100% silicone caulking inside the band then tighten them down. Have not installed a single u bolt style clamp since the first time I used a stainless band clamp

The original ones (the benchmarks) are made right here in Auburn Hills, MI. - Torca. They make the TorcTite, the EasySeal, the AccuSeal, & the DuraSeal. I brought the AccuSeals & DuraSeals into the mainstream aftermarket in the early 2000's before anybody had them. Nobody else carries the DuraSeals - they have always been OE only & they are the strongest lap-joint band clamp in the world.

Here's my page on the clamps, *including the 2.5" butt-joint clamp the Torca Coupler: http://www.classicchambered.com/classic/AccuSeal.html

The only other size the coupler is available is 3.5". I do not carry the thinwall TorcTites or EasySeals.
